GREENFIELD — When hundreds of black civil rights activists tried to march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala., on March 7, 1965, the response from law enforcement was swift, fierce and brutal.
The story of that day, which came to be known as “Bloody Sunday,” will be among those told during Greenfield Community College’s senior symposium Tuesday, which will feature stories from the civil rights movement of the past century.
Amherst resident and former Amherst College Dean of Students Onawumi Jean Moss will deliver the stories.
The event starts at 2 p.m. GCC’s downtown center, 270 Main St. Admission is $10.
