I’m a half-dollar (USA). Two of me makes $1. Americans have trouble counting so they don’t like to use me. Liberty was on my first face, starting with the profile, and then the Walking Liberty. She was beautiful. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, USA.
You might say I began in 1892, when the USA Mint began. Benjamin Franklin was on my best side face from 1948 to 1963. I used to be made of silver until 1969; boy, did I shine! From 1970 to 2016, I was minted with nickel-copper (Except for 1975 and 1976, for the Bicentennial 1776-1976). Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was on the reverse.
I like Ben — he helped write the Declaration of Independence with Thomas Jefferson (1776). Later, he helped write the United States Constitution (1787). While ambassador to France, he convinced them to provide money, ships and soldiers to help win our Revolution with England.
I was glad to see John F. Kennedy on my coin from 1964 to today, 2016. the Presidential Coat of Arms is on the reverse. he was U.S. representative, U.S. senator, and 35th president USA 1961-1963. He sent a man into space and return. He brought confidence to America. He started the Peace Corps and handled the Cuban Missile Crisis. Many citizens saves his half-dollar for their children and grandchildren. He said: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what You can do for your country.” God Bless America. We were proud of ourselves.
