Writers’ Lunch: Bring your laptop or notebook and lunch to the LeVanway Meeting Room Monday through Thursday anytime from noon to 2 p.m. for self-directed writing time.
Open for Business: Telecommuters and local business people looking for reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace are invited to the library’s LeVanway Meeting Room Mondays and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m.
Afterschool Read-Aloud: Kids of all ages will love read-aloud story hour at the library every Monday from 4 to 5 p.m. Children’s Librarian Kay Lyons or a guest reader will read picture books, folk tales, or passages from favorite chapter books. Mother Goose on the Loose: Stop by to join Kay Lyons at a lap-sit story hour for children age 3 and under (with a grown-up) on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m.. Kay reads books, leads the group in hand rhymes, and uses puppets to teach animal sounds and other concepts new to the very young. Each session is 45 minutes, with half an hour of structured activity and about fifteen minutes of visiting time.
Children’s Book Writers Group: Adults who write for children are invited to attend a critique group in the LeVanway Room the third Tuesday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. The group will be facilitated by Nell Wright. Participants will discuss skills, share tips and opportunities for development, and read and discuss their stories. For more information, call Jane at the library at 413-772-1544 x 5120.
Wednesday Wizards: A guest presenter will introduce a science concept with a book and activity the third Wednesday each month from 4-5 p.m. in the LeVanway Room of Greenfield Public Library. This activity is open to all and free thanks to the Friends of Greenfield Public Library.
Chess Club: Meet other chess players every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:45. The last Wednesday of each month will feature a speed chess tournament. Contact calderrossi@gmail.com with any questions.
Writers’ Lunch Workshop: On Fridays from noon to 2 p.m., Jane Buchanan and Joannah Whitney offer a workshop which includes writing exercises and discussion as well as an opportunity to share what has been written. Participants are encouraged to attend the open writing periods during the week as well. There is no charge for the workshop and registration is not required.
