Years ago, Methadone was the answer and they soon discovered that it was widely abused and became a problem. What they did was make it more difficult to obtain and it was highly monitored. They administered it in clinics and the government highly monitored it. Even with these conditions it was and is widely abused.
Now we have Suboxone, the new methadone. It is much easier to obtain and you don’t have to go to a clinic to obtain it. I admit that it does help many people but it is abused by many as well. It gives the opiod addict a false sense of security, they feel that when they get addicted, they can use Suboxone to get off of their drug of choice.
I think most people would think that it is a crazy idea to give the active alcoholic light beer to maintain his sobriety. I believe that addiction is a spiritual malady and not a physical chemical imbalance. They have been trying for decades to find the magic pill. It doesn’t exist. What exist is a power greater than ourselves that works.
