Mother Woman support group: A support group for new mothers. Meets Mondays, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at St. John’s Corner, 469 Main St. This group, under the joint sponsorship of It Takes a Village and St. John’s Episcopal Church, meets each Monday, except school holidays. Great Falls Discovery Center, 2 Avenue A: Great Falls Coffeehouse with Keith Murphy and Becky Tracy. Friday, 7 to 9 p.m. The Tracys are dynamic performers of traditional music from Newfoundland, Quebec, Ireland, France and beyond. Each month the Friends of the Great Falls Discovery Center host an evening coffeehouse with local musical talent. Refreshments available. Museum and museum store open during intermission. Franklin Area Survival Center: The Food Pantry & Thrift Store hosted by staff and volunteers is at 96 Fourth St., 863-9549. The Thrift Store is open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Food Pantry is open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The center is closed Federal holidays. The Thrift Shop is open to the general public and helps finance its Food Pantry. In an emergency, such as a fire or flood, the center will supply needed clothing and linens, free, and additional food to help the victims of a disaster.

Whately

Whately Library: Saturday, 11 a.m., Book Discussion, “Brooklyn” by Colm Toibin. Now a major motion picture — A Love Story for this generation, Brooklyn brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common and asks, what do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart? Monday: 11 a.m.: Whately Knitting Circle and Instruction. Did you always want to learn to knit or want to learn new techniques? Join the first monthly meet up! Bring your own projects, tips, techniques and ideas to share with fellow knitters at the Whately Library. Beginners will learn to make a simple scarf. Just bring two 7- or 8-inch knitting needles and two worsted weight yarns.
