I understand that TV Channels 22 and 40 have no idea that the town west of Greenfield is Shelburne and not Shelburne Falls. Shelburne Falls is only a village and only half of it is in Shelburne. The Recorder should know better than to confuse the town and village.

In today’s Recorder (Feb. 29) there is a short article and photo of an auto accident on Colrain-Shelburne Road in “Shelburne Falls.” This road is actually in very rural Shelburne, far away from the village. The road branches off the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) across from the Coffee Roasters and chip-and-putt golf course.

There is a road in the village leading to Colrain (Route 112). As reported in The Recorder, one might think the accident occurred here, instead of at the actual site six miles to the east. As one leaves Greenfield, there is a large sign announcing that one is entering the Town of Shelburne!
