8:05 p.m. — Caller from Bacon Street reports a general disturbance between a male and female of the second floor of a building there; officer found on arrival that it was all verbal, and they were advised of the complaint, and both were advised to go to bed.

Greenfield, March 1

12:39 a.m. — Burglar alarm on Montague City Road; officer on scene reports a basement window is broken, but isn’t big enough for someone to go through; officer believes the wind might have broken it.

1:04 a.m. — Hazard at area of Davis Street and Holly Avenue where a tree is down blocking the road; the tree is across Davis Street and limbs are hung up on a guy wire across the road.

1:09 a.m. — Caller from area of Cheapside and Deerfield streets says there is a tree down with wires hanging low across the road, the wires have skimmed the top of the reporting person’s vehicle; fire department and officers sent; large top of tree in the roadway, and service to the house was taken down and across the roadway; while officer was blocking the road with emergency lights, and reading a pole number, a small SUV drove through the top of the tree at about 30 mph, no major damage, just scratches to the vehicle, operator was later found to have suspended license, and a criminal application was issued.

1:20 a.m. — Hazard on Silver Street closer to High Street where the caller reports wires down and house service in the road; fire department also there; Eversource cleared wires from the house, and they will be without power, but road is now passable.

1:24 a.m. — Mobil gas station on the Mohawk Trail checked where the officer found a door unsecured and most of the gas pump covers were found with nozzles blown off the gas pumps.

1:36 a.m. — Report of trees down at Federal and Haywood streets; one lane open.

1:45 a.m. — Hazard on Riddell Street where the caller reports a tree on the house; fire and police responded; a building official was called to the scene.

1:53 a.m. — Report of wires down at Charles and Chapman streets; DPW closed the road.

1:53 a.m. — Tree down on Highland Avenue; fire department advises the primary wires are down, but Highland Avenue is open to one lane; DPW on scene.

2 a.m. — Hazard just past Colrain Road on Plain Road, tree on wires.

2:02 a.m. — Dumpster in the road on Osgood Street; removed from roadway.

2:05 a.m. — Tree on wires at Green River Road and Mary Potter Lane; DPW closing the road between Nichols Drive to Mary Potter Lane.

2:14 a.m. — Wire down on the Mohawk Trail by Taco Bell, wires down.

2:17 a.m. — Hazardous condition, at Colrain Road and Nashs Mill Road and an officer removed the branches from the roadway.

2:24 a.m. — Hazard on Country Club Road at Crowingshield Drive; wires down blocking the road; a large tree is blocking the road with the top of a telephone pole down with the wires across the road.

2:25 a.m. to 2:36 a.m. — Hazards reported at Murphy Park on Leyden Road and at Leyden Woods Lane; and a tree down on Ferrante Avenue, with hanging wires.

3:01 a.m. — Report of a tree on a car at Forest Avenue.

3:18 a.m. — Hazard on Cypress Street where an officer states the homeowner says a large pine tree struck the back of the house and vehicles.

3:28 a.m. — Tree blocking half of the road on Arbor Drive.

3:47 a.m. — Tree blocking the road on Shelburne Road past the overpass and about 100 yards up from Homestead Avenue; barely passable.

3:55 a.m. — Tree partially blocking the westbound lane of Nashs Mill Road at Leyden Road.

4:04 a.m. — Tree across the road on Gerrett Street; DPW closing the road from Sanderson to Beacon streets.

4:17 a.m. — Report from Smead Hill Road that a tree is across the entire roadway.

4:30 a.m. — Wires still hanging, but Smead Hill is now passable.

5:18 a.m. — Pond Street closed due to a tree across the road.

5:48 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported on the Mohawk Trail at the Mobil station where a red SUV was in the parking lot, but no occupants inside; Internet was down, and plates can’t be run; both building and vehicle appear to be secure, but unable to locate anyone in or around the vehicle or business.

6:03 a.m. — Report from Forest Avenue of a car port striking a neighbor’s car causing substantial damage; three vehicles involved, during the windstorm; report taken.

6:34 p.m. — Hazard on Allen Street where the caller reports a low-hanging communication wire.

7:47 a.m. — Caller requests police to check the welfare of a person on Silver Street where a 92-year-old resident is concerned as her furnace isn’t kicking on, and she has health issues; the furnace started before officer’s departure, and appears to be functioning; resident was also given the phone number to sign up for TRIAD; and then officers moved branches to the curbside.

8:26 a.m. — Officers on High Street to serve a warrant; arrested was Richard Norman Tirrell Jr., 44, listed as homeless, of Greenfield, on a warrant arrest.

11:11 a.m. — Caller from Crescent Street regarding a threatening phone call; the message was left from an IRS scam caller. She was advised this is another common scam, and do not respond to them.

12:35 p.m. — Report of malicious destruction of property, at the Federal Street Cemetery; an officer investigating the cemetery monuments that were knocked over or moved; he found a few large stones off their bases, they will need a machine to reset them; nothing else needed at this time.

1:07 p.m. — Hazardous condition where an officer reports the metal around the tree planting on Main Street near the Zemi store has come loose and poses a tripping hazard; the DPW was notified.

1:21 p.m. — Reporting person says that a known male who hangs around the benches on Main Street at Miles Street, walked out in the roadway stopped traffic and punched the reporting person’s tailgate; officer spoke with the man who went out in the roadway, and he said the operator of the vehicle drives by, and taunts him all day; he was advised to ignore the operator of the vehicle, and move on with his life.

2:36 p.m. — Caller from the staff at Rodeway Inn on the Mohawk Trail got a report of a computer stolen from a room in the inn and the resident has a suspect; officer assisted with removal of the person from the hotel room; report filed.

3:46 p.m. — Report of an accident at the Greenfield High School parking lot where a Jeep Liberty backed into a parked Dodge Journey; rear end damage to both vehicles, and information was exchanged.

4:50 p.m. — Officer assisting a citizen with the problem of some keys that dropped down a sewer grate at Arch Place; services rendered.

5:26 p.m. — Disturbance reported from Applebee’s on the Mohawk Trail from where the caller reports a female standing on the edge of the property, yelling towards the Rodeway Inn; officer and ServiceNet personnel arrived and arranged a ride for the female; she was sent on her way.

6:23 p.m. — Larceny reported on the Mohawk Trail at BRW Electronics where the reporting person says they would like an officer to look at the video footage of this larceny.

7:06 p.m. — Caller from South Shelburne Road reporting people are going in and out of an abandoned building on this street, and the reporting person stated a truck was just there and someone brought a  propane tank into the building, and the reporting person believe one person is inside at this time; officers found homeless people camping in tents and they were advised to move along in daylight or get permission from the landowner.

7:12 p.m. — Report of three Trump political signs taken from the area of the high school, but requesting no call back from an officer.

9:55 p.m. — Accident on Arch Street where the operator’s vehicle struck the bridge walkway through the tunnel, destroying the same and totaling the vehicle; DPW was called for signs; investigation led to arrest of Michael F. Ruggeri, 64 of Deerfield St., Greenfield, charged with operating under the influence of liquor, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Montague, March 1

1:33 a.m. — Unwanted person reported at a Randall Road location and the caller stated the person is intoxicated and belligerent, but not hostile and has no weapons; officers sent and both units are out with the male involved; services rendered.

5:49 a.m. — Report of tree branches down on Pinewood Circle.

7:50 a.m. — Caller from Prospect Street reports a vehicle was broken into sometime after 9 p.m.

9:04 a.m. — Walk-in from Dell Street requests to speak with an officer regarding someone threatening to kill her family a few months ago; officer to make contact with her.

9:14 a.m. — Reporting person calling on behalf of a client at the Dial/Self program on Eleventh Street to report the client’s vehicle was broken into overnight.

2:26 p.m. — A reporting person just arrived at her daughter’s home, and believed it was broken into; officer found no sign of forced entry, and nothing known to be missing, the open door was likely blown open by the heavy wind last night.

2:30 p.m. — Report from Montague City Road of unauthorized charges on the reporting person’s charge card, and has already reported this; she was advised to bring related paperwork to the station and an officer will meet with her.

Orange, March 1

12:20 a.m. — Control reports someone was banging on the reporting person’s door and then left; officer searched the area and found a subject behind the building, moving things around; the subject stated he had permission to be there, but was told to find a better time of the day to be making such noise.

1:35 a.m. — Control reports a tree down on East River Street in the roadway; on officer’s arrival the tree was moved out of the travel lane.

1:40 a.m. — Suspicious activity at the boathouse on East River Street where the person inside the vehicle said he had pulled in to call about a fallen tree.

5:35 a.m. — Control reports a tree is across the roadway on Prospect Street; it was moved out of the travel lane.

7:58 a.m. — Caller from Athol Road reports a tree down on wires near the Athol/Orange line.

9:25 a.m. — Control advised they got a call from a home health care worker looking for an officer to respond to Red Brook Lane as she is unable to reach her client; officer responded and entry was made, and the client was found to be at home.

9:55 a.m. — Walk-in reports illegal dumping; he saw a suspicious car on the Jones Cemetery Road last night; this morning he found 20 paint cans dumped in Jones Cemetery; he picked them up. Arrangements were made for him to take the cans to the transfer station.

10 a.m. — Control got a call from a person on Church Street where the woman said she arrived home and believes there is someone in the home; on officer’s arrival a man said his wife thought someone was inside, but it was the dog.

2:12 p.m. — Control got a call about a low hanging wire across East Main Street; officer found it to be a low hanging cable wire, and Time Warner Cable was notified.

5:42 p.m. — Officer on patrol witnessed a vehicle back into another vehicle, damage was under $1,000 and the two operators exchanged information.

6 p.m. — Report from the Orange Fire Department of an unmanned boat floating in the water near Anderwood Lane; fire department and an officer utilized the reporting person’s row boat to investigate, but no one found; the boat was secured to the dock, and the investigation continued.

6:05 p.m. — Control reports three youths playing chicken in East Main Street; officer checked the area, but with negative result.

6:12 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street reports he struck a fire hydrant, but didn’t realize this until he returned home; he says the passenger front door was damaged; he did return to check the hydrant, but didn’t see any damage there; message was left for the water department.

7:45 p.m. — Caller from Shingle Brook Road states there is a vehicle in his field operating erratically; officer searched the area, but with negative result.

Greenfield, March 2

7:39 a.m. — Malicious destruction of property, reported on Conway Street where the reporting person says two vehicles were damaged, eight tires cut and other damage done; officer investigated and found the tires were cut between 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.; report issued.

11:11 a.m. — Accident reported at Valley Medical Group parking area on Conway Street, though the accident happened at Davis and Silver streets, a rear-end collision causing minor damaget; operators drove to the Valley Medical location to exchange information, and officer assisted with the exchange.

12:15 p.m. — Hazardous condition at Devens and Elm streets where a large tree is reported down with wires involved, and blocking the road; officers and fire department sent; officer advises an Eversource supervisor is on the scene; DPW requested with signs, and awaiting a tree crew from Eversource.

3:42 p.m. — Accident reported on Beacon Street; two vehicles involved; officer was flagged down by a female who was involved; following a short investigation the operator of the first vehicle was cited for failure to use care in starting, stopping, turning or backing,

4:42 p.m. — Accident reported at the Greenfield Schools Administration building park area on Davis Street; officer found a Dodge van backed out of a parking space, and then a Ford Taurus back out of a parking space on the other side of the lot and collided with the Dodge; information exchanged.

5:22 p.m. — Caller from South Shelburne Road would like an officer about people living in an abandoned building at that location, and officer was advised of the situation with four homeless people living down behind the old slaughter house, in tents; and the question is who the actual owner of the property is at this time; under investigation.

6:10 p.m. — Caller from Dollar General on Federal Street requests an officer to check the welfare of an elderly male driver going about 15 mph; and then turned into the Dollar General lot, and stopped partially through the turn; officer found the male was weak from recent medical problems; other people in the vehicle were able to drive.

6:49 p.m. — Fire department unit responding to Sunderland for a reported structure fire on Hubbard Hill Road.

10:34 p.m. — Shoplifting reported at CVS Pharmacy on Federal Street, and the reporting person stated a shopper has just concealed some items; due to some technical problems, police here had to get a warrant through the Montague Police Department computer; arrested here was Jennifer M. Doolittle, 36, of unknown address in Greenfield, charged on the warrant and for shoplifting; bail was set at $445.

Montague, March 2

3:45 p.m. — Walk-in reports he attempted to file his tax return and it appears another person filed taxes using the reporting person’s information.

10:51 p.m. — Officers on Randall Road to serve a warrant; arrested was Jonathan Nadeau, 22, of Randall Road, Montague, on a probation warrant.

Greenfield, March 3

11:48 a.m. — Report of a runaway from the Greenfield Starr Program on Park Street; the female is a 16-year old, who also fled last week and was found in Athol; units were advised, and she was located at noon at the bus transit station, and she was returned to the house, and turned over to the staff; she was upset that she is no longer allowed to have phone contact with her mother, per her guardian, her grandmother.

Montague, March 3

9:03 a.m. — Officer on patrol checking on a motor vehicle near Hillside Plastics on Millers Falls Road, determined to be a disabled vehicle and the operator has already contacted a tow, and will be here in 15-minutes; services rendered.
