Hello neighbor.
The annual Syrup Festival, a performing arts festival put on by Piti Theatre Co., will take place on March 20 this year. It will be held in Memorial Hall in Shelburne Falls, and it looks like there will be something for everyone.
The day will begin with horse and cart rides at 1 p.m., and at 2, “Olde Coleraine: A Musical Hilltown History” will be performed by Piti.
At 4, “The Snowflake Man” will be performed by Puppetkabob, and 45 minutes later, there will be a puppet workshop offered. At 6, Diantha and Martha Wholey will perform “Love Letters from Maud.”
There will be syrup tasting — you can’t go wrong there — and door prizes, as well as a raffle and lots of sweets.
Piti is still looking for boys ages 7 to 13, as well as adults, to perform in “Olde Coleraine.” Rehearsals begin March 12 from 2 to 5 p.m., so you should probably let Piti know soon if you’d like to perform with the company. Those who decide to be in the show will also rehearse on March 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. — and then, it’s the show.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. You will find them at Boswell’s Books in Shelburne Falls or World Eye Bookshop in Greenfield.

TRAIL HEAD OUTFITTER AND GENERAL STORE in Orange is organizing a fundraiser this month called Some Bunny Cares for a local soldier who served in Iraq. The soldier can no longer work because of some serious health issues, and he needs our help. The soldier has four young children. So, Trail Head has come up with a way to ease the burden. From now until March 26, Trail Head will have paper bunnies and for $1, you can purchase a bunny and write a message to the soldier. On March 26, the dollars will be turned into grocery store gift cards. Trail Head, which is on the corner of South Main and East Main streets, will also accept grocery store gift cards as part of the fundraiser. Details on the soldier and family are not being released as they wish to remain anonymous.
