Goodnow earns Deane Jones Memorial Scholarship

Mohawk Trail Regional School student Sophia Goodnow of Shelburne received this year’s $1,000 Deane Jones Memorial Scholarship.

This award is given through Trinity Church to a graduating high school student affiliated with one of the churches in Buckland, Colrain or Shelburne; who is noteworthy in their service to their school and community; and who exhibits good character.

The Deane Jones Memorial Scholarship Committee members are Susan Shauger, Eileen McCusker Rauch and Elizabeth Miles.

Sen. Mark’s staff holding office hours

BUCKLAND — State Sen. Paul Mark’s staff will hold office hours on Tuesdays, June 11 and June 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at Buckland Town Hall, located at 17 State St.

Residents of any of the 57 municipalities in the Berkshire, Hampden, Franklin and Hampshire District are encouraged to share ideas on current or potential state legislation, or to ask for assistance with issues involving any state agency. Appointments are not required.

June 9: Mary Lyon Church holding concert

BUCKLAND — The Mary Lyon Church on Upper Street will present a concert on Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

The concert is titled “How Can I Keep From Singing?” It will feature local musicians Shelley Roberts, soprano, and Matthew Taylor, tenor, accompanied by pianist Pamela Gilmore.

Donations are welcome to assist with the church’s new furnace fund. Light refreshments will be served following the concert.
