Schoen Books hosting charity book sale on Sunday

SOUTH DEERFIELD — Schoen Books is hosting a charity book sale at its 7 Sugarloaf St. location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Sunday, May 26.

Folks will be able to check out the store’s collection of literature, fiction, history and Judaica, with sales benefiting local charities and the International Rescue Committee. A rain date of June 2 is set.

Inaugural senior prom set for June 1

CONWAY — The town’s first-ever senior (60-plus) prom will be held at the Field Memorial Library from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 1.

The event is free for all of Conway’s older adults and includes food provided by Le Petit Oiseau Bakery of Ashfield, beverages and live music provided by Katie Clark and Larry LeBlanc.

Residents all received a postcard invitation to the event that included a survey asking about the needs of older adults in town. Completed surveys, which can also be picked up at the door, can be dropped off at the prom, where folks will be entered into a prize raffle.

Free transportation is available and those interested should contact Robin Yerkes at RBYerkes@gmail.com or call 413-575-7816. Those needing transportation should reserve it by May 28.

Library hosting concert, story walks

CONWAY — The Friends of the Field Memorial Library will welcome folks to events on consecutive weekends, with a concert set for June 8 and then a weekend of story walks from June 14 through June 16.

On Saturday, June 8, at 3 p.m., A New Blue Jazz Band will perform a free outdoor concert at the library, 1 Elm St. The public is invited to bring chairs and enjoy some music outside. Refreshments will be provided and the program is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Then, the Friends of the Field Memorial Library will host a story walk beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14, and running through 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, at Veterans Memorial Park across from Town Hall. June’s story is “Is Your Mama a Llama?” by Deborah Guarino and activity kits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional story walks will be held on the third weekend of each month and the program is supported by the Union 38 Family Network.

Plant giveaway set for Saturday

LEVERETT — The Rattlesnake Gutter Great Plant Giveaway returns this year on Saturday, May 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 10 Rattlesnake Gutter Road.
