CONWAY — The Conway Historical Society’s summer exhibit invites the public to learn about the changing experiences of public and private loss, commemoration and grief over the last 250 years with “Love’s Sweet Afterglow: History of Death and Mourning.”
Featuring numerous items from the Historical Society’s collection that tell the stories of Conway’s cemeteries, the exhibit will teach attendees about some of the town’s vital statistics throughout the decades, how an 18th-century farmer or 19th-century intellectual got their affairs in order, and how people remembered their loved ones. Displays will also honor several people whose stories have never been told before.
The Conway Historical Society’s summer hours are Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. between July 7 and Aug. 25.
A guided cemetery tour is also planned; a date and time will be posted on the Historical Society’s Facebook page or on its website at conwaymasshistory.org.
