League of Women Voters hosting Deerfield candidates forum

DEERFIELD — The League of Women Voters of Franklin County will host a candidate forum on Wednesday, April 30, ahead of next week’s town election, which will see Selectboard Chair Tim Hilchey facing a rematch from former Selectboard member David Wolfram.

The forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Deerfield Community Center, 16 Memorial St. Questions will not be accepted from the floor, but audience members can write questions on cards provided to them, which will then be screened by members of the League of Women Voters.

Folks are encouraged to email questions in advance to lwvfranklincounty@gmail.com. All chosen questions will be posed to each candidate and may be edited, if necessary.

The League of Women Voters of Franklin County is a nonpartisan grassroots political organization that encourages the informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Mount Sugarloaf Observation Tower to close daily through June 1

SOUTH DEERFIELD — Beginning Monday, April 28, and running through June 1, the Mount Sugarloaf Observation Tower will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accommodate renovation work.

Sugarloaf Mountain Road will remain open to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, but folks may experience delays or closures while construction materials and equipment are being moved.
