The Frontier softball team had its bats going early against Taconic on Wednesday. 

The Redhawks scored two runs in the first inning and five in the second to take a 7-2 lead going into the third. The visiting Thunder clawed back to tie the game at eight going into the bottom of the sixth, but Frontier responded with a five-run inning to pull away with a 13-9 Franklin County League West triumph at Zabek Field. 

It was a group effort at the plate for Frontier, with eight different players recording hits on Senior Day. Lu Fifield got things started with a two-run home run and added a two-run triple later in the game. 

Olivia Machon hit a solo home run and added a single before Ashley Taylor smashed a three-run homer in the sixth to give the Redhawks three homers in the game. 

Hailey Hutkoski finished with two hits and an RBI, Skyler Steele and Sophia Pinardi both tallied a hit and an RBI while Gabby Adams and Adelaide Ehle hit safely in the win. 

Taylor struck out one while Raine Wonsey tallied three strikeouts for Frontier. 

Franklin Tech 10, Pioneer 1 — The Eagles scored five in the first, three in the fourth and two in the sixth to earn a Franklin County League East win over the Panthers at Nancy Gifford Field Wednesday. 

Hannah Gilbert didn’t allow a hit in five innings work, striking out nine. Brayleigh Burgh struck out four in two innings. Kylee Gamache tallied two hits, Kyra Goodell recorded a hit and three RBIs, Jenna Petrowicz doubled to drive in two runs, Amelia Rider had a hit and an RBI while Samantha Duncan hit safely for Franklin Tech. 

Jacobia Tyminski tripled, Natalie Johnson tallied a hit and an RBI while Kelly Baird added a base hit for Pioneer. 

Hopkins 17, Mohawk Trail 1 — Addie Loomis tripled and singled in the Warriors’ Franklin County League East loss to the Golden Hawks in Buckland Wednesday. 

Emmalee Inman and Maddie Cosentino hit safely for Mohawk Trail. 

Turners 4, South Hadley 2 — The Thunder got back in the win column with an independent triumph over the Tigers at Gary Mullins Field on Wednesday. 

The win improves Turners to 13-4, as it closes out its regular season by hosting Wachusett on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. 

Madi Liimatainen got the job done in the circle on Wednesday, striking out 14 and allowing just one hit. At the plate, Liimatainen doubled while Mia Marigliano, Holly Myers and Marilyn Abarua hit safely for the Thunder.
