Reenie Grybko Clancy: Confused

Not being affiliated with any official political party, and a person who weighs all sides, reads a variety of news reports and listens to opposing opinions, I consider myself a common sense moderate who also happens to vote. Progressive Democrats have gone too far with cradle-to- grave government help and regulations that impose restrictions on us as if we are all still in kindergarten. Conservative Republicans have gone too far in removing regulations which basically fosters a “wild-west” type of activity where the powerful and strong-willed are allowed to succeed without much regard to how their actions affect others.

I read thoroughly the opinion page of the Greenfield Recorder and find that in general the anti-Trump pieces back up statements with facts and statistics, while Trump supporters make general accusations and sometimes conflicting observations. Case in point is the letter in April 12 edition, ”DOGE team will bring good results.”

The first point is about the “Tesla Takedown” which I take to be a condemnation of the violent actions taken by anti-Trump folks. I’m confused. Why is it OK to storm the nation’s Capitol and break windows, smear feces on walls, shout “Hang Mike Pence” and attack law enforcement officers? All 1,500 people convicted of these and/or lesser offenses were pardoned.

Second point is a contradiction under the category of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The letter writer states “long before Trump was reelected[,] the Office of Inspector General uncovered nearly $72 billion in improper payments.” Hmmmm, why not let the IG Office continue doing its great work? But instead Trump fires several inspectors general and places the reportedly richest man in the world to do the job.

Finally (not something in the letter, but a common sense issue) is it not a conflict of interest that someone who owns companies which have multi-billion dollar contracts with the U.S. government be the same person who has almost complete control over the national budget?
