BERNARDSTON — An elderly man was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries Monday morning after his blue Ford Fusion collided with a gray Toyota Camry on Route 10.
According to Bernardston Police Officer Jordan Zukowski, the driver of the Toyota, a company car from the courier service Vital Delivery Solutions, was driving on Route 10 at approximately 10:30 a.m. when the driver of the Ford turned onto Route 10 from Route 142, colliding with it. Both vehicles have Vermont license plates.
The Toyota’s driver, Ezra Goselin, said he tried to slow down, but ultimately could not avoid what he referred to as a “high-speed crash.”
“I was coming up Route 10 here and I see this car turning,” Goselin recounted. “I tried to stop, and tried to turn a little bit to maybe try to avoid him, hoping that maybe he would stop.”
The Bernardston Fire Department, Northfield Police Department and Northfield EMS assisted Bernardston Police with the crash. Koch’s Automotive towed the involved cars.
Zukowski said the crash is still under investigation.
