It was a season to remember for the Northfield Mount Hermon alpine ski team.

The Hogger girls capped off their first undefeated season since 1989 on Wednesday with a first place finish at the final Mount Institute Ski League race of the season, which allowed NMH to finish the season 18-0 in league meets and 38-0 overall including a NEPSAC Class A title.

It took a true team effort to go unbeaten. Senior Elianna Umana Kumura set a Hogger school record with eight individual victories in league and NEPSAC races, as she closes her career having won 22 of 24 races over a three year span. Junior Ellie Pinkham placed in the top five in seven of the eight races, senior Kat Mazandy didn’t have a single DNF all season while Wylie Benedetti and Kathryn Werner had top 10 finishes on Wednesday to help NMH secure a first place finish to complete the unbeaten season.

The Mt. Institute league championship was the 13th in a row for the Hogger girls, a league record.

It wasn’t just the NMH girls that had success on the mountain this winter.

The Hogger boys wrapped up a Mt. Institute league title on Wednesday as Ryan Choi, Sam Rotermund, Cody Vassar, Zach Wells, Cavan Finnerty and Ying Kay Leung all placed in the top 10 to allow the NMH boys to finish with a 30-0 record in the league. The Hogger boys closed the season with a 55-2-1 record overall.

Choi finished his career at NMH with 19 victories on the mountain, a school record. Rotermund finished in the top seven of every race this season to help the Hoggers go unbeaten.
