WENDELL — The town will kick off summer reading on June 22, with Ed the Wizard’s family-friendly interactive magic show that centers around the efforts of recycling. The event starts at 2 p.m. at the Wendell Free Library.
Guests can sign up for the summer reading challenge, collect a ticket for prize drawings and have some snacks.
Ed the Wizard is based in Orange.
WENDELL — The Wendell Meetinghouse at 1 Morse Village Road will host the third event in the 2024 “Honoring Elders” series at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, and a contra dance from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.
June’s “Honoring Elders” honoree is Karen Copeland, a local drummer and teacher, organizer of Old Home Day and other events, one of the creators of the Wendell Free Box (used to distribute clothes to those who need them), and 2015 Wendell Citizen of the Year. Community members can share stories, memories and appreciations of Copeland’s contributions to the region.
June’s “Honoring Elders” event is free and open to the public. After expenses, donations will go to the Wendell Meetinghouse to support ongoing renovations and programming. For more information, email organizer Gail Mason at rushingwaters01@gmail.com.
Steve Howland will be the caller at the June 29 contra dance, with Annika Amstutz on fiddle and Becky Hollingsworth on piano. Admission is by donation, to benefit the musicians, caller and the Friends of the Wendell Meetinghouse. For more information on the event, email guidingstaropenband@gmail.com.
