NEW SALEM — Julie Stepanek’s ukulele lessons at the New Salem Public Library last month proved to be such a success that she has been invited back for “Learn Ukulele (Part 2)” on Thursday, May 1.
She will briefly review the previous skills and introduce some new skills. The workshop, slated for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., is appropriate for ages 12 and older. Stepanek will bring lots of ukuleles, but bring your own if you have one.
NEW SALEM — Jessica Decoteau, master herpetologist and co-founder of The Reptile Nook, will visit the New Salem Public Library for “Animal Talk” on Saturday, May 3.
She will bring some reptile friends (Ralphie, Bluey, Ollie and Hulk) from 1 to 2 p.m. Guests will get to meet the creatures up close as they learn about the lives and habits of a variety of lizards and amphibians.
WENDELL — A meet-up of members of Village Neighbors — a nonprofit that helps senior citizens in Wendell, New Salem, Leverett and Shutesbury live at home for as long as possible — is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at Deja Brew Café & Pub.
Deja Brew will open for Village Neighbors prior to the establishment’s public hours of 6 to 11 p.m. Village Neighbors members and volunteers are invited for conversation, cocktails, mocktails and light fare.
ORANGE — A knitting and crocheting club meets at Wheeler Memorial Library from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
All skill levels are welcome. Materials for newcomers will be provided during the free sessions. Participants are welcome to bring current projects and/or materials of their own.
