Montague Police Logs: Jan. 21 to Jan. 27, 2025

1:46 p.m. — Walk-in to the station states he was threatened with gun violence by a “ride share” driver who dropped off a female at his home on High Street. The female was there to visit his stepson. Report taken.
9:43 p.m. — Caller from Federal Street reports she went to check on her granddaughter and she was not in her bed. There was a stuffed animal under the blankets. She was last seen at 9 p.m. Reporting party wanted the information logged and officers to be aware in case they came across her.
7:41 a.m. — Report of breaking and entering investigated at The Lady Killigrew Cafe on Greenfield Road. Window smashed, cash register and other items gone through. Reporting party states she is safe and it does not appear anyone is still there.
8:55 a.m. — Manager from the Turners Falls Municipal Airport reports a suspicious male party is walking around the premises. Male party stated he was from the Federal Aviation Administration but had no IDs on him and was acting strange. Manager called back stating the male party left the property in a New Hampshire transit van. Officers spoke with the male party who was parked at the Water Department. Everything is in order.
5:26 p.m. — Walk-in to the station from Vladish Avenue reports she was on a website and her computer froze, so she called a number she believed to be for Microsoft and ended up speaking with a man who wanted to take $23,000 from her Greenfield Savings Bank account and deposit it in a new account. Caller states the bank also called this number and the individual hung up on them. Caller states the man didn’t get any money from her, but did get her address, phone number and date of birth. Caller states the bank put an alert on her credit card, in case someone tries to an account in her name. Reporting party will go to the bank in the morning to fill out a statement form.
5:28 a.m. — Caller reports possible “bear tracks” in the area of the playground and picnic area of Peskeomskut Park. Services rendered.
1:57 p.m. — Walk-in to the station reporting a scam. He received messages from people claiming to be federal agents. Reporting party took out $15,000 and gave it to them, along with his Social Security number. Reporting party put the money into a bitcoin machine at the Cumberland Farms in Greenfield. Report taken.
8:45 a.m. — Reporting party seeking advice on legal options to handle threatening and harassment. She did not want to specify who is involved or what was going on, just wants information. Officer advised. Reporting party called back in stating she does not need to speak to an officer. She will hire a lawyer.

10:22 a.m. — Reporting party states his neighbor on Seventh Street has built a tiny house on a trailer in the yard. It is backed up against the garage and has a wood stove inside, and the smoke is constantly coming inside the reporting party’s house. Reporting party is unsure if this is a safe situation and he feels it may be a fire hazard. Transferred to the Turners Falls Fire Department.
1:06 p.m. — Caller from Power Town Apartments on Avenue A reports vandalism in the building. Reporting party states a substance that appears to be honey or molasses was poured on a handle in the common hallway, on the rug and on the door handle of an apartment. Reporting party spoke with the landlord who requested the incident be reported to the Police Department. Officer advised. Tenant will also likely be reporting this to the housing authority due to ongoing issues.
7:31 p.m. — Walk-in to the station reports he was delivering food on Highland Street and a dog jumped into his car. No tags. Dog did not belong to the people he was delivering food to. Female party called in stating her mother’s dog got loose. Dog reunited with owner.
Monday, Jan. 27
12:28 p.m. — Walk-in to the station reports being threatened by a neighbor on Ninth Avenue after he took a picture of a vehicle owned by the neighbor because he was interested in buying it. Reporting party was advised of his options.
1:28 p.m. — Officer was flagged down by an individual reporting a stolen black satchel purse from the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Avenue A. Cellphone, cards and keys were inside the purse. Officer found the purse hanging on a rack inside the store. Services rendered.
