Monday, Feb. 3

10:33 a.m. — Reporting party requesting a call back from the animal control officer regarding the bird flu. Caller inquiring if it has been reported locally. She states she walks down Migratory Way all the time near Cabot Woods with her dog and she saw two dead geese, and another one on the ice that was suffering. Caller is concerned for the spread of bird flu to other animals as well. Message left for the animal control officer.

3:59 p.m. — Reporting party states multiple locations between house numbers 120 and 140 on Fourth Street do not shovel the sidewalk following snowstorms. States he calls about this every year. Report taken.

5:24 p.m. — Reporting party from Hillside Avenue reports the house next door to her that is condemned has footprints leading up to the door and the door has been kicked open. Officer advised. Entry made, requesting Board of Health be contacted for the unsecured door.

Tuesday, Feb. 4

9:42 a.m. — Caller left a message in the general mailbox stating his EBT benefits were stolen from him. Advised of options.

5:11 p.m. — Vehicle crash at West Main and Federal streets. Reporting party states her vehicle was rear-ended. No smoke/fluids and the vehicles have pulled off to the side out of the intersection. Officers advised. Citation issued.

Wednesday, Feb. 5

11:33 a.m. — Fire alarm sounding at Turners Falls High School. School resource officer advising the school is being cleared. Cause was burnt popcorn.

12:53 p.m. — Employee from The Rendezvous on Third Street states people are illegally dumping and he thinks he knows who it is. Officer advised. Spoke to reporting party, would like it on record at this time. He will contact who he thinks did it and tell them not to do it again.

7:36 p.m. — Reporting party reports a possible break-in at a vacant house on Hillside Avenue. Advised there is an open door. They called this in two days ago as well, but the door is back open. Officer checked the house, didn’t find anyone and secured the door.

8:58 p.m. — A probable cause arrest, assisting the Greenfield Police Department, was conducted on Laurel Lane in Turners Falls. Ceara Ann Dolhenty, 30, of Franklin Street in Greenfield, was taken into custody.

Thursday, Feb. 6

12:26 p.m. — Reporting party states his vehicle is in a snowbank on West Chestnut Hill Road, at the entrance of North Leverett Road. Advised AAA is coming. Caller will notify the Department of Public Works as well. Report taken.

5:09 p.m — Report of a car that backed into a Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) bus on Avenue A. Report taken.

Friday, Feb. 7

12:23 p.m. — Reporting party received several messages from someone stating she has unpaid toll bills. She did not call back and has not provided any information. She was advised the incident will be on record and to call back if further help is needed.

3:30 p.m. — Caller from Main Street is looking to have fire personnel help change a battery in a smoke detector that is chirping.

Saturday, Feb. 8

10:51 p.m. — Caller from Unity Street states four transformers have blown in the area. Call transferred to Shelburne Control Dispatch Center. Second caller reporting the same.

Sunday, Feb. 9

12:08 p.m. — Caller advising that several items such as light bulbs, light fixtures and security cameras have gone missing from the Montague Bookmill property on Greenfield Road.

8:39 p.m. — Security alarm sounding at Harvey’s Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge on Avenue A. Perimeter back kitchen door. Footprints seen in the snow leading to/from the door. Door is locked. Attempted to contact keyholder.

Monday, Feb. 10

8:27 a.m. — Report of a school bus stuck halfway in the road by Lake Pleasant and Millers Falls Road. Bystander directing traffic. Officer checked the length of the road, unable to locate.

2:09 p.m. — Caller from Industrial Boulevard reporting one of his driver’s tractor trailers was hit in the parking lot by another tractor trailer. Officer advising no tractor trailers are on scene. Officer spoke to owners of both companies, advised them of their options. A report will be done.

2:43 p.m. — Department of Public Works requesting assistance with a resident on Highland Avenue who is shoveling snow into the roadway. They asked them not to and the situation is escalating. Officer advised. No DPW workers found on Highland Avenue and there are no residents outside. Called DPW back and spoke with an employee who reported the DPW left to avoid conflict. Confirmed address is Highland Street in Millers Falls, not Highland Avenue. Officer advising he will talk to the male party. No one found outside and no snow in the road at the Millers Falls address.

7:06 p.m. — Reporting party from East Taylor Hill Road advising there has been a drone hovering over the backyard for the past two days. It has lights that come on and off periodically, unknown where it is coming from. Reporting party called back to say that the drone has left the area.

9:55 p.m. — Caller in the area of Montague City Road and Warner Street reports she can hear someone yelling for help from an unknown location. Multiple callers from the neighborhood can hear a male party yelling for help from the wooded area along the bike path. Officer is concerned someone may have fallen through the ice. Turners Falls Fire Department responding, along with the Northfield Dive Team and Greenfield Police Department. Greenfield Police bringing a drone. Detective has a dog ready to transport to the vet. Taken to the Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) in South Deerfield. Sergeant requesting Greenfield Police go to the last known address of a male party. Cellphone found at riverbank. Husky does not have a chip. No answer at Greenfield address, attempting to make contact with a brother out of Connecticut. Rescue operations ceased overnight. Greenfield Police attempting to reach girlfriend. Greenfield Police advising no one at the apartment, left a note. Attempted to contact landlord. Landlord located, reports possible victim does live there as well as another male party who stays part-time. Search resumed in the morning. Dog to go to the shelter unless someone is found to take care of the dog temporarily. Search of water concluded.

Tuesday, Feb. 11

10:29 p.m. — Reporting party from Sunrise Terrace states the fire alarm is going off. Dispatcher could hear alarm in the background. Second caller reporting the same. Officer checked, no alarm at this time. Spoke with tenant who said it is a recurring problem. Might be a security alarm.

Wednesday, Feb. 12

7:42 a.m. — Caller from Franklin Street states her boyfriend refused to leave after being asked several times. Reporting party states he pinned her down this morning during an argument. She has barricaded herself in her bedroom. Male was outside when officers arrived. Reporting party packed up a box of the male party’s belongings and he was told he is not welcome back to the residence. Male party heading to Connecticut.

2:43 p.m. — Ordinance violation reported on South Prospect Street. Report of sidewalks not being cleared of snow in front of multiple homes.

Thursday, Feb. 13

10:25 a.m. — Reporting party from Highland Avenue states someone broke into his cottage and about $1,000 worth of items are missing. Report taken.

5:59 p.m. — Reporting party from H Street reports larceny of jewelry from a party who was staying with her. Individual reportedly admitted to taking it 10 days ago and has not returned it. Both parties were advised of options.

Friday, Feb. 14

10:54 a.m. — Reporting party from K Street would like it on record that an older blue pickup truck was parked near his house. He could hear the two men inside talking about the windows of his home. When the men saw him, they turned away and didn’t make eye contact. Advised of options.

1:42 p.m. — Caller on Davis Street advising one of his recycling bins blew across the road, then a woman in a Toyota RAV4 pulled up and stole it. Reporting party provided the license plate number, but no information came back on the vehicle.

5:12 p.m. — Caller on Stevens Street reports a canoe was stolen. Officer advised.

5:16 p.m. — Caller on Fifth Street reports people are dumping trash on her porch and it’s an ongoing issue. Officer advised.

6:42 p.m. — Reporting party from East Taylor Hill Road states the drone is back and would like an officer to come look.

Saturday, Feb. 15

1:44 p.m. — Walk-in reporting a vehicle hit his car while it was parked outside of Walgreens in the Food City parking lot on Avenue A. Report taken.

4:53 p.m. — Security alarm sounding at Greenfield Cooperative Bank on Avenue A. Attic motion detected. Alarm company called back to cancel. One of the keyholders said there are mice up there, but the doors are locked and the building is secure.

9:25 p.m. — Caller reports people are riding a snowmobile on the ball fields at Turners Falls High School. Officer advised.

Sunday, Feb. 16

1:03 a.m. — Caller wanting to speak to an officer about hitting a guardrail at around 11:00 p.m. on Feb. 15. States she is unsure where she was when she struck it, believed to be in town somewhere, however she stated she may have been on Route 2. Reporting party called back advising she believes she was in Gardner when this occurred. She was advised she would have to call that department to file an accident report, or wherever she hit the guardrail.

8:28 a.m. — Alarm company calling in commercial fire alarm on Australia Way. Attempting keyholder, call transferred to Shelburne Control Dispatch Center. Officers advised. Turners Falls Fire Department advising the roof is starting to collapse at the Australis Aquaculture building. Everyone has evacuated safely.

8:56 a.m. — Reporting party from K Street states the neighbor’s kids are harassing her and throwing snow at her. Officer advised. Reporting party called back stating she and her neighbor talked the situation out. No need for police response.

Monday, Feb. 17

9:46 a.m. — Walk-in to the station reporting Griswold Street isn’t plowed yet. Department of Public Works notified. DPW advising everything was plowed and treated. Will be out later today to continue cleanup.

6:31 p.m. — Two calls from Chestnut Street reporting a fire on the porch. Residents attempting to extinguish the fire. Neighbor advising some of the embers landed on her house but did not catch fire. Fire was extinguished upon officer’s arrival.
