MIAA All State Wrestling: Franklin Tech’s Dillon Laffond reaches Consolation Round of 8, Mia Marigliano makes it to semifinals

The opening day of the MIAA All State Wrestling Tournament took place on Friday at Methuen High School, with Franklin Tech’s Dillon Laffond still alive heading into Saturday. 

Laffond dropped his opening match of the day at 285 to Arlington’s Brady Bekkenhuis but after a bye, Laffond finds himself in the Consolation Round of 8 where he’s set to face Minnechaug’s John Bermudez on Saturday. 

Carsten Couture (120), Collin Eddy (190) and Landon Purington (132) all qualified and wrestled on Friday, but went 0-2 to see their seasons come to a close. 

Mahar’s Abduli Gilmore rounded out the locals who competed on Friday, though Gilmore (106) also went 0-2 to see his season come to an end. 

The MIAA Girls All State Tournament also got underway on Friday in Methuen, with Franklin Tech’s Mia Marigliano winning her lone match of the day to reach the semifinals at 132. Eagle Jacqueline Churchill (235) dropped her lone match of the day and will wrestle in the Consolation Round of 8 on Saturday. 

Mahar’s Delana Fausett (152) went 1-1 on the day to reach the Consolation Round of 4 while Senator Makayla Butler went 0-2 at 185. 

Frontier’s Jocelyn Antes (120) went 1-1 on Friday to reach the Consolation Round of 4 while Redhawk Ainsley Southergill went 0-2 at 120.
