Local roundup: Ellie Pinkham, NMH girls ski team capture NEPSAC Class A title

Thanks to some standout performances from local competitors, the Northfield Mount Hermon School alpine ski teams put it all together on Wednesday.
The girls team captured the 2025 NEPSAC Class A Alpine Ski Championships at Mount Sunapee in Newbury, N.H., the Hoggers’ first title since 1989 thanks to a commanding margin over runner-up Noble and Greenough School. NMH amassed 35 points, well ahead of Noble’s 62. Maine’s Gould Academy was third with 73 points, followed by the Rivers School in fourth and Deerfield Academy in fifth.
Ashfield’s Ellie Pinkham put together a star performance in the girls’ slalom, capturing first place thanks to a two-run total of 68.03 seconds. Teammate Wylie Benedetti of Charlemont was seventh in the slalom (70.08 seconds), while NMH’s Elianna Umana Kimura was third overall (68.31).
All three skiers also finished in the top 10 of the giant slalom.
DA’s Rowan Skinner was second in the GS and sixth in the slalom to pace the Big Green.
The NMH boys (45 points), defending 2024 champions, were second to host Cardigan Mountain School (39 points), in a very close contest.
Ryan Choi was second in both the slalom and GS for the Hoggers, while Northfield’s Cody Vassar nabbed eighth in both events to help lead the squad.
East Longmeadow 10, Greenfield 1 – Less than a week removed from a last-minute 2-1 win over the Spartans in Greenfield, the Green Wave were unable to cap the season sweep of East Longmeadow on Thursday night.

The Spartans (10-7-1, 6-5-1) cruised to a 10-1 Berry Division victory at the Olympia Ice Center in West Springfield.
Greenfield finished its regular season 11-7-1 overall, 7-4-1 in the Berry. The Wave still have a chance at a league title depending on Westfield’s performance in its final two games of the season.
Non-playoff games
Franklin Tech 54, Ludlow 45 – Double-doubles from Hannah Gilbert and Lilianna Inman powered the Eagles to victory on Thursday night in Turners Falls.
Gilbert scored 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for Franklin Tech, while Inman went for 10 points and 17 boards.
Franklin Tech put itself in position to qualify for the MIAA Division 5 state tournament with the win. The Eagles are 9-10 with one non-playoff game remaining, and a win at Duggan Academy on Wednesday would secure an automatic berth into the state tourney.
Madyson Lynde tallied eight points to go with seven assists in the win, and Haleigh Benoit tossed in six points and 10 rebounds.
