Dorothy Storrow: Is this what Trump's voters wanted?

I am trying to understand what Trump’s voters expected when they cast their ballots. I read in today’s news that soup kitchens in Sudan that fed hundreds of thousands of people abruptly shut down following Trump’s order freezing nearly all U.S. aid. No warning, no time to plan to find other sources of money or food. Just turned off the spigot.

Similar manufactured chaos is happening in Ukraine and Thailand and across the world. Apparently Marco Rubio has offered a temporary reprieve to some “core” aid, but chaos continues. Aid agencies don’t know what aid is allowed to continue.

Is this what Trump voters want? People to starve? Chaos? Send a message to the world that the U.S. doesn’t care? And on our home soil, did the voters want to terrorize the entire federal workforce with threats of arbitrary termination? Did the voters want the government to “freeze” while Trump’s administration looked for DEI initiatives to purge?

I got the message that the government was not working for Trump voters, and needed reform. Is this the reform you sought?
