Lew La Chance: God bless all neighbors

Merry Christmas! It’s Jesus Christ’s birthday this month. He was born Dec. 25, some 2,000 years ago. Many believe he is true God and the true man. His birth was the birth of hope. When he died on the cross, he opened heaven’s gates. He taught love and forgiveness.

He explained the Ten Commandments with two — love God and love your neighbor. We all feel we could be better now. I told a young lad I tried to be good from Dec. 1. He told me: ” I should have started Jan. 1!” Whenever you do start, it is important to start. Please do what you think is right. God loves you.

One winter, possibly 2016, in Greenfield, my gravel drive was 10 feet wide. I drove my car into the driveway, here on Wonder Street. Later when backing up, my left rear tire rode over the edge of the drive into loam, and my auto dropped several inches. I was stuck. One neighbor saw my difficulty and came over with his milk truck to pull me out.

Thanks, neighbor. Thanks, God. He also drove a motorcycle. God bless all neighbors who help others. Later I widened the stone/gravel driveway to 14 feet.
