What a wonderful article regarding the holiday lights atop Mount Sugarloaf. [“Mt. Sugarloaf’s holiday lights a community treasure, help needed to keep 75-year tradition alive,” Recorder, Dec. 9, 2023].

The dedicated people doing this for years wish to remain anonymous, taking no credit for their devotion.

I have enjoyed seeing the tree that brings light, hope and joy to all of us who pass by.

Please don’t let this tradition fade away. If you can, make a small donation to help the cost of replacing bulbs and wires each year. A letter would be nice to express your thanks to those who give their time to see that the tree appears each year.

Send a check and use “The Lights of Sugarloaf” in the memo line to: Robert Schmitt, 70 Sugarloaf St., South Deerfield, MA 01373.
