Bobby C. Campbell: Looking out for our younger generation

I’m writing this letter because I’m very worried about the younger generation who have seen hatred and very little leadership from a group of older people acting like immature babies themselves, which means they can’t lead by example and mentor these kids. Kids today know way too much as it is already, plus add these other problems and it leaves growing challenging for these kids.
Here in Franklin County many of these kids are looking for support mentally more than anything else, and seeing them looking so sad most of the time just breaks my heart. As a DJ for 41 years I entertain many many children plus I was a baseball coach for 26 years dealing with 8- to 12-year-olds. My goal was always to teach them the game, teach them good sportsmanship, and mentor them into being confident in themselves, which in return gives them a chance to be leaders themselves.
Please take some time to think about your own actions and see it through the eyes of the younger generation and see if you’re part of the problem or part of the solution. Let’s all do better so we can make things easier for the future leaders of our community and our country.
I have always believed in Franklin County as a great place to raise our children. Let’s continue this for a group of children who need our support, not hatred and negativity all the time.
