On Sunday, Oct. 6, the Village of Light Ashram in Leverett is sponsoring its second Walk for Peace. This walk, beginning at the Leverett Elementary School and ending at the Village of Light Ashram, is meant to include everyone. It is a testimony of the heart that seeks an end to violence and war wherever these occur, and is committed to standing with those who are experiencing grief, loss, and the devastation of the land that they have called home.

Whether in Gaza, Israel, Sudan or Ukraine, we wish to express our caring for those who are suffering greatly, and to offer the compassion of our hearts to those experiencing the tragedies of war. For those who do not know what effect a walk such as this might have, its effect is both upon oneself, opening the heart to its own greater love, and upon the network of life of which we are a part. In this sense it is a prayer-in-motion. It goes out to the universe and to the hearts of others, whether knowingly or not.

The Walk for Peace will be followed by Music for Peace and light refreshments at the Village of Light Ashram from noon to 1:30 p.m.We hope you will join us.
