Thank you, Eve Brown-Waite for the wittiest, most thoughtful “My Turn” that I’ve read in a long time [“Other guy is the one who’s unfit for office,” Gazette, July 10]. What a gem! I hope some of the other contributors, especially the regular ones, study your column and learn something from it. The editorial page would be better for it. Along those lines, I’m no fan of Donald J. Trump, but I, too, am tired of the relentless insults back and forth between his supporters and his detractors. The fact that some of the worst offenders sometimes cast a wide net doesn’t make it any better. If all one can do is call other people morons (in one way or another), maybe consider taking a deep breath and not hitting the “send” key. Is there really no one else with something to say? Not too long ago, there was a column by a former Deerfield town official that discussed the recent election and offered some thoughts about the future. He asked some good questions, he made it clear that he didn’t think that he had all the answers. I thought it was refreshing, and I hope we can see more like it.
