I saw firsthand the damages to our roadways during the July rainstorms, including watching a section of Lower Road fall away in front of me, taking a car with it. I was involved in the storm recovery efforts through the Deerfield Fire Department and my role on the Emergency Management team. Our Select Board, as well as Police Chief John Paciorek and Department of Public Works Superintendent Kevin Scarborough along with their respective officers and workers, all put in long days addressing the immediate repairs needed to our roads and culverts. Much work has been accomplished, but much more is needed to ensure safe passage to residents, farmers, and emergency vehicles across all town roads. Please vote “yes” on Jan. 16 at Town Hall. We need to authorize the funding to ensure safe travel and strengthen our infrastructure in advance of future severe weather events. Please join me in moving our town forward and ensuring we are on solid ground.
