As far away as it seems, the summer sun will be here before we know it, and so will an incredible opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life. The Fresh Air Fund, an esteemed nonprofit organization founded in 1877, provides this opportunity by connecting children living in New York City with “friendly town” families for a week brimming with summer fun. By hosting a child, families provide an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, exploration, and friendship.

My family has happily hosted the same child for several years and it has been a wonderful experience for all of us. And as a local Fresh Air chairperson, I write to urge folks in our community to consider becoming hosts. Buses are scheduled to stop in our area for two one-week visits this July. Embrace the opportunity to open your home and heart and introduce a new friend to our beautiful Pioneer Valley. Your generosity can truly change a life and create an impact that lasts a lifetime.

If you’re interested in opening your home for one week this summer to a child, please visit FreshAir.org for information or to apply. Let’s come together and make this summer extraordinary for a bus filled with new city friends.
