I am so grateful to have Green Fields Market’s presence in downtown Greenfield. It contributes to increasing the vitality of our downtown, employs more than 90 people, supports many local producers, keeps money in our community, and helps us know where our food comes from.
The business works to be a good neighbor by offering a Food For All Discount Program that gives discounts to folks who receive SNAP, WIC, or SSI, and by giving a working member discount to folks who volunteer in the community for activities such as helping at Stone Soup and maintaining public gardens.
I am very much in favor of the proposal for expanding of the store into the vacant space left behind after Wilson’s closed, and the new — and much-needed — housing that is proposed upstairs. Having a larger grocery store downtown, along with more housing and a good use for a vacant building, seems like a win-win for our town.
