GREENFIELD — With dozens of vendors and other family-friendly activities in store, the public is invited to the Franklin County Fairgrounds on Saturday for the inaugural Franklin County Fall Food Festival.

The festival will bring 19 food and beverage vendors, along with 46 craft and other vendors, to the Wisdom Way fairgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 19. Proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

“It’s for a great cause, and at this time of the year, it’s getting harder and harder to buy food,” said Festival Coordinator Sue Brulotte. “We want to try and help.”

Admission is free, although a minimum $5 donation for parking is requested.

The event was born out of a meeting of the Friends of the Franklin County Fairgrounds, in which Brulotte said attendees were trying to organize a food truck festival in the area. Instead, they landed on something a little bit different, although the intention is the same: raise money for charity.

The festival kicks off at noon on Saturday — it follows LifePath’s 32nd annual Walkathon, which starts at the fairgrounds at 10 a.m. — and continues through 8 p.m.

Highlights include food and beverage vendors, such as Four Phantoms Brewing Co., Cameron’s Winery, the Cousins Maine Lobster food truck, Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee Co., the Montague Center Firefighters Association and the fairground’s booths, among others.

Live music from local musicians Gabe Jay, Eric Phelps and the Expandable Brass Band will kick off at 2 p.m.

The event will also host the Roundhouse Rally, an antique vehicle show, from noon to 4 p.m. Folks can register from 10:30 a.m. to noon and the fee to enter is $10. All makes and models are welcome.

Gaudium Galaxy, an entertainment and recreation center being planned for Greenfield, will offer a “Nerf Frenzy” activity for $2 in which residents can bring their Nerf guns and compete for prizes in longshot tournaments, and a “Lawn Game Lightning” activity for $5.
