GREENFIELD — Taking inspiration from a Home and Craft Show held by different organizers more than a decade ago, the Franklin County Agricultural Society is bringing the event back to the Franklin County Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Michael Nelson, president of the Franklin County Agricultural Society that manages the fairgrounds on Wisdom Way, described the show as being “an exciting kickoff to the 2025 fairgrounds event season.” The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Nelson explained the community showed significant interest in having this event in a poll conducted by the agricultural society.

“There has been a large interest in having an event of this type,” Nelson said. “This show offers the community the opportunity to discuss their projects with home experts, explore contractors and shop handmade local goods, all while supporting local businesses.”

This event will feature a lot of activities, home improvement tips and food booths. More than 60 home improvement and craft vendors from across the Pioneer Valley will participate in the event, primarily contractors and businesses related to home and garden services.

“This event is a great opportunity for people who are looking to do home renovations,” Nelson said. “It will be beneficial to anybody looking to do a home remodel.”

Food vendors that will be in attendance include All Things Maple serving maple fried dough, Ginger Love Cafe serving Filipino street food and Lelo’s Kitchen.

Adult attendees will be given a raffle ticket upon entry and prizes will be drawn throughout the day. At noon and 2 p.m on Saturday and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, a random ticket will be drawn and the winner will have the opportunity to grab as much cash as they can from a Cash Cube Air Cyclone within a 30-second time frame. Attendees must be present at the time of the drawing to win.

“If you’re not there when we call out your number, we’re moving on to the next number,” Nelson clarified. “They will have a chance to grab as much money as they can. There will be $250 in the machine and they can keep all they can catch.”

There’s also going to be Nerf gun games that are run by Gaudium Galaxy, an arcade proposed at a 24,000-square-foot entertainment and recreation center abutting Home Depot at 246 Mohawk Trail. Nelson said the Nerf games are going to be “like tag but with Nerf guns.”

Nelson said the event will be held rain or shine and is free to attend, though a parking donation of $10 is suggested to support historic preservation of the fairgrounds.
