High schools: Frontier boys volleyball earns first win of season with 3-2 triumph over PV Christian

The Frontier boys volleyball team got in the win column. 

After dropping their opening three matches of the season, the Redhawks hosted Pioneer Valley Christian on Wednesday and raced out to a 2-0 lead with 25-23, 25-22 set victories.

The Eagles fought back to win the third and fourth sets (28-26, 29-27) but Frontier recovered to take the fifth set, 15-8, and come away with a 3-2 victory at Goodnow Gymnasium in South Deerfield. 

“I’m proud of how hard the boys worked tonight,” Redhawks coach Courtney Parent said. 

Jack Carey smashed 19 kills and five aces, Will Reading recorded eight kills, Will Petrin and Dean Gray each tallied nine kills while Tavo Vincent-Warner dished 42 assists in the triumph.

Deerfield Academy results

The Deerfield Academy boys lacrosse team got its first win of the season on Wednesday, beating Berkshire, 18-7. 

Also on Wednesday the DA boys tennis team defeated Belmont Hill, 6-1, for its first win of the season.
