HS Roundup: Franklin Tech’s Brody Hicks and Mason Lehtomaki combine to throw no-hitter in 10-0 win over Lee

Franklin Tech’s Brody Hicks and Mason Lehtomaki dominated on the mound on Monday against Lee.

Hicks and Lehtomaki combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter — Hicks striking out nine while Lehtomaki struck out three — to lead the Eagles to a 10-0 independent victory in Turners on Monday.

Cody Yetter and Braeden Talbot both knocked two hits while Hunter Donahue hit safely in the winning effort.

Pioneer 9, Monson 1 — Evan Tsipenyuk went the distance for the Panthers, striking out five and giving up three hits while adding a hit and an RBI at the plate to help Pioneer move to 10-0 with an independent victory in Monson Monday.

Ethan Mauthe went 3-3 with a triple and drove in three, Ethan Quinn doubled and drove in a run, Ben Werner cracked two hits and drove in three, Alex McClelland knocked a pair of hits and drove in a run while Braeden Tsipenyuk and Jackson Campbell hit safely for the Panthers.

Frontier 8, Ludlow 2 — Max Skribiski-Banack struck out two and gave up just three hits over seven innings work, as the Redhawks picked up an independent win in South Deerfield Monday. 

Braeden Dion singled, doubled and drove in a run, Collin West drove in two with a base hit, Henry Drinker knocked an RBI double, Kaden James had a hit and drove in a run, Brady Poreda doubled while Shawn Baumann hit safely in the victory. 

Softball

Turners Falls 14, Mohawk Trail 0 (5) — Madi Liimatainen struck out 11 and allowed two hits while Autumn Thornton didn’t allow a hit and struck out two for the Thunder, who took down the Warriors in an independent contest in Turners Monday.

Maddie Dietz finished with three hits and an RBI, Mia Marigliano knocked two hits, Ameliya Galbraith doubled while Liimatainen added a base hit for Turners.

Riley Dyer doubled while Abby Moffatt hit safely for Mohawk Trail.

Ludlow 23, Mahar 5 — The Lions scored 13 runs in the first inning to take down the Senators in Ludlow on Monday.

Mount Greylock 22, Athol 9 — The Bears fell behind 21-7 after the third in a loss to the Mounties in Williamstown on Monday.

Jaylynn Chapalonis, Ella Reed and Kiya Stinehart each tallied a hit and an RBI while Madi Hermes hit safely for Athol.

Boys volleyball

Longmeadow 3, Frontier 0 — Nate Rivera put down 12 kills and made seven digs in the Redhawks’ 25-10, 25-23, 25-20 loss to the Lancers in Longmeadow on Monday.

Tavo Vincent-Warner dished 23 assists, Tegan Dexter tallied nine kills and 11 digs while Will Reading put down three kills for Frontier.

Boys tennis

Lenox 4, Frontier 1 — Casey Bestler earned a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 1 singles for the Redhawks, who fell to the unbeaten Millionaires in Lenox on Monday.

It was the first loss of the season for Frontier.

Girls tennis

Greenfield 3, St. Mary’s 2 — Amy Mihailicenco won in No. 1 singles (3-6, 6-0, 6-2) while Karinna Kostov earned a win in No. 3 singles (6-2, 7-6, 7-5) in the Wave’s victory at the Davis Street Courts Monday. 

Destiney Rodriguez and Stella Longe closed out the win with a victory in No. 2 doubles (7-6, 6-2). 

SICS 3, Frontier 2 — The Bulldogs swept singles to earn a victory in South Deerfield Monday.

Esther Ehle and Aylen Shaw won in No. 1 doubles (6-1, 6-1) while Brooke Charest and Hailey Fernandez took No. 2 doubles (6-0, 6-0) for Frontier.

PV Christian 4, Turners 1 — Olivia Wolbach earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory in No. 1 singles for the Thunder, who fell to the Eagles in Turners on Monday.
