GREENFIELD — The Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District will honor the military community with its annual Veterans Day parade and ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11.

Starting at 10 a.m. at Greenfield Middle School, the Veterans Day parade will travel down Federal Street before taking a right onto Main Street. The parade will conclude at Veterans Mall, where there will be a formal ceremony. Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District Director Chris Demars will speak on behalf of the veteran community and Mayor Ginny Desorgher will present a proclamation to commemorate Veterans Day.

“I served with a lot of brave men and women over my years in the service, so I feel it is important for them to be honored for the sacrifices they endured,” Demars said in a statement.

Veteran organizations participating in the parade include local representatives from the Marine Corps League, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Department of Disabled Veterans. Other community groups, such as the Greenfield Middle School and Greenfield High School bands and local Boy and Girl Scout troops, will also participate.

“Veterans Day is a momentous occasion, an important time where we all come together to express our gratitude to the countless individuals who have sacrificed to preserve our country’s values,” Desorgher said in a statement. “I hope [everyone] all join us for this beautiful ceremony organized by the Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District.”

Veterans, businesses, nonprofits and other groups interested in walking in the parade are encouraged to contact the Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans’ Services District office at 413-772-1571. All parade participants must arrive at Greenfield Middle School by 9:30 a.m. for the parade line-up.
