GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Business Association will celebrate 75 years in the community with an event on Thursday at Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center.

“We’ll talk about the history of the GBA ... and talk about where the GBA is going,” said GBA Coordinator Hannah Rechtschaffen. “We want to really position ourselves as an ally for businesses in Greenfield and also help to connect the business community to the larger community.”

Thursday’s celebration, which Rechtschaffen described as a “fun networking event,” will kick off at 6 p.m. with live music by Michael Nix. The music will be followed by remarks from GBA Board President Mik Muller; Rechtschaffen, who took over as coordinator from Rachel Roberts in April; former Coordinator Caitlin von Schmidt; former Baker Office Supply owner Bill Baker; and Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Jessye Deane. The event will also include a game of Business Bingo, the winners of which will be announced at 7:45 p.m., just prior to the close of the event.

“For me, it’s really about recognizing that the Greenfield Business Association has a very active role to play,” Rechtschaffen said. “We’re celebrating our 75th anniversary and we’re an organization people are used to having in the ecosystem.”

Rechtschaffen said as she acquaints herself with the new role, she’s excited about connecting as many people and businesses as she can.

“I think there’s a lot of room for better mutual support, collaboration, and really helping Greenfield look ahead and figure out who we want to be as a city,” she said. “I think there’s a lot of opportunity and space for us to step into.”

Advance registration at tinyurl.com/GBA75th is encouraged but not required, and the first 40 guests will receive a free drink ticket. Snacks will also be served. Everyone is invited, regardless of GBA membership status.

“If people want to come and just listen and check it out … that’s awesome,” Rechtschaffen said. “We’ll definitely have a membership table set up, so if people feel inspired to be members, that would be wonderful.”
