This year’s Community Catalyst Award will be presented to Clare Higgins, a longtime member of GCC’s board of trustees, at the Greenfield Community College Foundation’s annual fundraising dinner. GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Community College Foundation invites the community to its annual fundraising dinner, “Building Bridges and Belonging: GCC’s Celebration of Community,” on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in GCC’s Cohn Family Dining Commons.

The annual event features a catered dinner, a cash bar and the presentation of awards honoring GCC alumni and community partners.

“It is an honor to bring together and celebrate the people that make up our vibrant GCC community,” Alexis Page, executive director of the GCC Foundation, said in a statement. “We are inspired by our alumni, grateful to our champions, and proud to be part of this community that has such a huge impact on the lives of individuals and families in our area.”

The Community Champion Award, which goes to an organization that excels at building a more vibrant and resilient community, will be given to Stone Soup Café, a Greenfield nonprofit committed to providing pay-what-you-can meals and fostering community.

The evening will also honor two alumni. Jillian Morgan, Class of 2008, will receive the Young Alumni in Action Award. Morgan, who majored in theater at GCC before earning a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master of Business Administration from Bay Path University, currently serves as director of development at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

Ken Chartrand, Class of 2015, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award. Chartrand earned a degree in liberal arts and a certificate in renewable energy. He serves as a reentry case manager at the Franklin County Jail and House of Correction, where he supports people who are reintegrating into society following incarceration.

Tickets for the event are available for $50, with proceeds supporting GCC’s students and programs. Thanks to the support of donors and sponsors, including the lead community partner sponsor, Greenfield Cooperative Bank, GCC students will be able to attend the event for free.
