It was a battle, but Franklin Tech’s Mia Marigliano wrestled to podium position during the 2025 New England Girls Wrestling Championship over the weekend in Providence, R.I.

Marigliano — the MIAA All-State champion at the 132-pound weight class — came into the tournament as the No. 5 seed and started the tournament with a pin over Bedford, N.H.’s Audrey Shaw. In the quarterfinals, Marigliano was unable to get past Rocky Hill’s Olivia Hopkins, who earned a narrow 4-3 triumph.

In the consolation bracket, Marigliano went on to win two matches in a row, pinning South Shore’s Lindsey Lincolne and Putnam’s Melanie Miles. She then fell to Salem’s Keira Lynch, 19-8, in the fifth-place match to settle for sixth place in the tournament.

Frontier’s Jocelyn Antes went 1-2 over the weekend at 120 pounds. Antes won her first-round match against Irie Byers of North Kingstown (R.I.) via a second-round pinfall before dropping two matches that eliminated her from the competition.
