BUCKLAND — A woman was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital Wednesday afternoon following a single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 112 near Purinton Road.

Shelburne Police Department Sgt. Kurt Gilmore said the driver, a woman in her 60s, suffered what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries and may have fallen asleep at the wheel while driving south on Ashfield Road/Route 112, which led to her allegedly hitting the guardrail before going off the road around 1:49 p.m. Gilmore said it is unlikely there will be charges and that the driver was the only person involved in the crash.

While he was unsure of the severity of the injuries, he noted they were likely non-life-threatening and the woman was conscious and speaking to first responders. The vehicle was on its side and off the road with severe damage to the passenger door, although the roof appeared to have minimal damage.

“It looks worse than it apparently was,” Gilmore said.

The crash is still under investigation by the Shelburne Police Department. Other agencies that responded include Shelburne Falls Ambulance, the Shelburne Falls and Buckland fire departments, Colrain Ambulance, State Police. Stagecoach Auto Repair was on scene to tow the vehicle from the scene.
