GREENFIELD — After leading Working Fields since its inception in 2017, CEO and founder Mickey Wiles is transitioning out of day-to-day operations. Wiles will continue to offer financial oversight and guidance in a chief financial officer and founder role while also supporting Working Fields’ nonprofit partner, Just Work, as it launches new programs and services.

Working Fields is a Vermont-based staffing agency with a location on Deerfield Street in Greenfield.

Chelsea Bardot Lewis, who has served as chief operating officer for the past four years and has been a member of the advisory board since Working Fields’ inception, is stepping into the role of CEO. During her time as COO, Working Fields raised more than $2 million in equity capital, doubled revenue within three years, and expanded from one office in Vermont to five offices located across four states.

Freedom Credit Union seeks donations to support Alzheimer’s care, research

SPRINGFIELD — Throughout September, Freedom Credit Union is accepting donations at all its branches to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, an event held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide that raises awareness and money for Alzheimer’s care and research.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, one in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, and more than 7 million Americans are living with the disease. This year alone, Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia will cost the United States $360 billion — a number projected to rise to nearly $1 trillion in 2050.

“Alzheimer’s disease isn’t just a staggering statistic; for many of us, it’s deeply personal, taking away precious memories and connections with our loved ones,” Freedom Credit Union President Glenn Welch said in a statement. “That’s why we’re committed to supporting the Alzheimer’s Association once again by forming a team to walk and by raising funds for breakthroughs in the fight against dementia.”

Freedom Credit Union has branches across western Massachusetts, including in Greenfield and Turners Falls.
