Bulletin board: Greenfield Post 81 American Legion baseball tryouts May 3 and 4

The Post 81 American Legion Baseball Team will hold registration and tryouts on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field in Greenfield.

The program features both Junior Division and Senior Division teams. Players ages 17 and under by Dec. 31, 2025 are eligible for Junior Division action, while players ages 19 and under by Dec. 31, 2025 are eligible for Senior Division play.

Players from all Franklin County schools are eligible to try out, and those on a previous Post 81 roster must still try out in order to be eligible. Players are asked to bring a glove, cleats and their original birth certificate.

Wrestling

Three Frontier wrestlers traveled to Berwick, Maine over the weekend to compete in the Die Hard Invitational Tournament. 

Competing in the boys 7/8 grade grouping, Ainslee Southergill and Zachary Brown each placed third while Thomas Bagdon came in fourth in their respective brackets. 

Golf

The inaugural Golf Tournament to Benefit Turners Falls High School Baseball is scheduled for May 10 at Thomas Memorial. 

The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. The cost is $90 per person or $360 per team. Registration includes a golf cart, cash prizes and hot dogs on the course. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward funding dugouts for the baseball fields at Turners Falls High School.

Sunday Scotch Doubles- High Single- Joe Beausoleil & Bren Clark 111; High Triple- Scott Schneider & Kendall Schneider 319.

Tuesday Mixed League – High Single- Lisa Studley 103; High Triple- Nicole LaRoche 258.

Middle school baseball

Jaxson Yates struck out five while Cooper Hobb doubled and Matthew Guilbault singled in Great Falls Middle Schools 9-6 win over Mahar Monday.
