Bulletin Board: Ryan Cetto nabs medalist honors but Frontier golf falls to Hampshire in season opener

It was about as close as it could get between the Frontier and Hampshire golf teams in season-opening action on Thursday at Cherry Hill Golf Course in Amherst. 

Frontier’s Ryan Cetto was the match medalist with a 37, helping Frontier secure a team score of 163. The Raiders — behind scores of 40 from Brayden Fennessey and Colby Cabrini — came in just below, with Hampshire pulling out a 162-163 victory. 

Brady Wood shot a 40, Cam Skiffington carded a 41 while Jacob Cornelison and Porter Hall each scored a 45 for the Redhawks. 

South Hadley 168, Mohawk Trail 175 — Phineas Tuttman and Logan Moore each shot a 41 for the Warriors in a season-opening loss to the Tigers at Ledges Golf Course in South Hadley on Wednesday.

Conner Bergeron (43) and Douglas Wilcox (50) also scored for Mohawk Trail.

Running

Northfield Summer Road Race

The final Northfield Summer Road Race of the summer took place on Thursday, with Mike Townsley completing the three-mile course in a time of 19 minutes, 23 seconds to place first in the 28-runner field.

Thirteen walkers also participated.

Isaac Bingham took second (19:29) followed closely by Charlie Woodman (19:31), Michael Bear (19:33) and Philip Kavanaugh (19:38). Elizabeth Edwards placed sixth overall and was the top female finisher (19:52), with Marcy Cabanas taking second (20:00) on the women’s side. 

Don Maynard Race

The 30th annual Don Maynard Memorial Race is scheduled for Sept. 21 at 9:30 a.m at the Greenfield Municipal Swimming Area. 

The options are to run the 5 mile road race or the 3 mile walk. T-shirts will be given to the first 50 people who register. Online registration is available at RunSignup.com. The race is looking for volunteers. Questions can be directed to Chuck Adams at 413-522-6688.
