There’s a new travel soccer program opening up in Greenfield.
Greenfield United is a travel soccer program for all kids in Greenfield, ages 6-14. The team will compete in Roots Soccer League, which includes clubs from towns all across Pioneer Valley. The club will run teams during the fall, winter and spring seasons. Registration will be completed on a seasonal basis. Players may play all three seasons, or mix and match to accommodate other interests.
Teams will have one to two training sessions a week, depending on the age level. Matches will be played primarily on Saturdays, with the potential for a weekday match when weather and other conditions require it. At the U7 and U8 level, the matches will be at the Roots facility in Westfield, but training sessions will be in Greenfield. Starting with U9, teams will play half their matches in Greenfield and half their matches away. The league stretches as far north as Brattleboro, VT, as far south as Enfield, CT, as far east as Ware, and as far west as Southwick. The training sessions and home matches will be played at the Center School in Greenfield.
The club is looking to field both boys and girls teams, though co-ed teams are possible if there aren’t enough players to make a full team at certain age groups. The teams are able to take players from towns outside of Greenfield, though a waiver would need to be submitted for players who don’t live in or attend schools in Greenfield.
Registrations for the spring season are underway and is running until March 6. The club is also looking for coaches.
To register for the season, please go to www.greenfieldunited.com and click on Registration Info and then Available Programs. You will see a list of age groups to sign up for. Teams are determined based on birth year.
