The 14U FCHA Bantam squad captured a GSL Championship last weekend, taking two of three in a series against the Springfield Yellow Jackets to win the title.
FCHA dropped the opening game 5-3, stormed back to earn a 4-2 win in game two and won the decisive game three, 5-2, to win the championship.
“It was a great way to cap off the season especially after taking the defeat in game one,” FCHA coach Adam Bouchard said. “Winning the second two shows how badly these kids wanted to play hockey and win for each other.”
The team is comprised of Asa Bouchard, Chayton Massa, Dominic McKay, Emmitt Smith, Jack Boron, Max Caron, Logan Tyler, Michael Mickiewicz, Nico Siano, Noah Poreda, Nolan Kalinowski, Patrick LaFontaine, Zackary Hollister and Jed Amstein.
The Western Mass. section of the Knights of Columbus Hoop Shoot will be taking place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Franklin County’s YMCA in Greenfield.
Three Greenfield residents and six Athol residents have qualified and will be competing. The event is open for those to watch and attend.
John Richardson and Neil Black tied for first with 34 points on Wednesday in the Greenfield Elks Pitch League.
Chris Kalinowski took second with 30 points while Ray Lavalle came in third with 29 points.
