Bulletin Board: Big seventh inning propels Post 81 Juniors past North Adams

A big seventh inning propelled the Greenfield Post 81 Junior Legion squad to a victory over North Adams on Tuesday. 

Trailing 4-3 going into their final at bat, Post 81 managed to put three runs on the board to take the lead. Nick Prasol scored on an error to tie the game, Cody Yetter singled in a run to give Greenfield the lead before Aiden Shea scored on a wild pitch, giving Post 81 a cushion going into the bottom of the frame. 

North Adams was unable to answer, with Greenfield walking away with a 6-4 win on the road. 

Bodie Burke struck out six, Arthur Fitzpatrick struck out one before Conner Bergeron picked up the save in the seventh, striking out two. 

Hayden Girard tallied a hit and an RBI while Prasol, Bergeron, Burke and Shea hit safely in the win.

Franklin Tech Summer League

Frontier 68, Pioneer 45 — Skyler Steele erupted for 24 points, Jazzy Hayes put in 20 points, Olivia Machon tallied 16 points while Whitney Campbell added six points, helping the Redhawks earn a win over the Panthers in a Franklin Tech Girls Summer Basketball League contest on Tuesday. 

Kyler McClelland put up 21 points, Addison Harrington scored 15 points, Natalie Rios had four points while Kiara Gruszkowski scored three points for Pioneer.

Terry Boyce carded the low gross of 2-under in a Best Nine Holes contest in the 18 Hole Women’s League at Country Club of Greenfield on Tuesday. 

Teresa Varner took second (1-over). Jess Lapachinski shot the low net (minus-7) followed by Susan O’Connor (-4) and Nancy Donoghue (-4). 

In Flight Two, Irene Wood took first (plus-4) while Dianne Wood came in second (+13). Irene McDonald (-6) and Lane Kelly (-1) had the low net scores. 

• Annie Lasek (37), Lisa Sullivan (43) and Ann McHugh (43) carded the low scores in the Patty Berg Flight in the 9 Hole Women’s League at CCG on Tuesday. 

 Here are the top performers in each flight: Judy Strong (43) and Nancy Robie (44) in the Nancy Lopez Flight, Angela Berquist (51) and Alexander Sacco (52) in the JoAnne Carner Flight, Danica Hochstetler (48), Elaine Mount (51) and Sally Bernard (51) in the Lorena Ochoa Flight, Susan Luippold (52) and Kim French (52) in the Annika Sorenstam Flight and Brenda Dedinas (52) and Julie Beres (53) in the Michelle Wie Flight.

PV Women’s League

Conway 9, Ashfield 6 — Kacey Snape and Brandy Robbins each homered and combined for five RBIs in Conway’s Pioneer Valley Women’s Softball League contest Monday. 

Nikki Pullen had two hits and an RBI while Meg Burrington tallied four  hits and two RBIs for Ashfield. 

Greenfield coed

Liberty Tax Sharks 18, St. Stan’s 16 — Robert Badillo (four hits, three RBIs), Matt Gibson (three hits, two RBIs) and Mike Cole (three hits, two RBIs) led the Sharks to a win in a Greenfield co-ed adult softball contest Tuesday. 

Trevor Mankowsky (five hits, four RBIs), Kramer Patenaude (four hits, two RBIs) and MacKenzie Salls (four hits, two RBIs) played well in the loss.

Bombers 12, Havoc 0 — Mia Shaw and Samantha Laflesh combined to throw a five-inning no hitter, Shaw striking out eight and LaFlesh three, in the Bombers’ win on Monday. 

Emmalyn Nash homered, singled and drove in four while Riana Shaw had two hits and an RBI in the victory. Lexi Hawkins struck out four for the Havoc. 

Bombers 7, Flyers 2 — Corinne Charlebois knocked two hits and drove in a run, Mia Shaw struck out seven while Addison Talbot and Sienna Laflesh each recorded a hit and an RBI in the Bombers’ win Monday. 

Taylor Underwood tallied two hits, Brayleigh Burgh struck out six and added a hit and an RBI at the plate while Ariel Peters recorded a hit and an RBI for the Flyers.
