BUCKLAND — Director of Assessing Pam Guyette has been appointed as interim town administrator while the Selectboard seeks a permanent replacement for Heather Butler.
Guyette will step into the role beginning May 5, for a term of 90 days, as an interim replacement for Butler, who announced earlier this month that she accepted the position of town administrator in West Boylston. While Butler’s last full day at Buckland Town Hall will be April 14, she plans to stay on in a part-time, remote capacity until April 30 to assist town staff in preparing for the May 3 Annual Town Meeting.
“Pam will serve as your interim town administrator, knowing that she will also continue her duties in her current role as the town’s assessor,” Butler told the Selectboard on Tuesday. “We will be asking Cara [Leach], who is our town treasurer, and Alicia [Graves], who is our town clerk, to step up and continue some of the tasks.”
Guyette will continue her work as director of assessing while taking on additional duties in the day-to-day operations of the town. Guyette will also become the town’s Community Development Block Grant administrator.
To support Guyette with her new duties, Leach has been appointed as interim administrative assistant and sewer district administrator.
Guyette will receive an additional $25.45 per hour over her current salary and Leach will earn an extra $16.97 per hour. Graves will receive an additional stipend of $600.
Butler said the increased pay will not require any additional appropriations or funding transfers, as the town administrator salary line item can cover the costs.
Butler said the town is lucky to have incredible staff members who are willing to step up in the interim.
