Athol-Orange 12U Little League All-Stars see outstanding summer run come to an end

A fantastic summer on the diamond came to an end for the Athol-Orange Chuck Stone 12U Little League All-Stars.

After winning the District 3 title for the first time in 35 years, Athol-Orange competed in the four-team Massachusetts Section 1 tournament.

Athol-Orange opened with a 17-1 loss on the road at defending state champion Pittsfield last week, and ended their summer campaign with a 9-0 loss to Holden in an elimination game on Friday in Holden.

Pittsfield went on to defeat Holden 3-0 in the Section 1 championship game over the weekend. Pittsfield will play in the four-team state tournament, along with Bridgewater, Melrose and Acton Boxboro. That event begins Thursday in Andover, and will crown the state representative at the New England Little League Regional tournament.
