Adams, Jacobs keep seats on Gill-Montague School Committee

MONTAGUE — Lori-Lee Adams and Carol Jacobs each claimed three-year terms on the Gill-Montague Regional School District School Committee during Tuesday’s election, defeating challenger Scott Hyman.

Adams and Jacobs won handily, receiving 505 and 487 votes, respectively, according to results posted on the Montague town website. Hyman received 131 votes.

In Gill’s election on Monday, Adams and Jacobs each received 27 votes to Hyman’s 12.

Voter turnout in Montague was 10.34%, with 718 residents casting their ballots.

Write-ins gathered support for positions without candidates on the ballot. John Dempsey received 84 write-in votes compared to Elizabeth Irving’s 82 write-in votes for a three-year term as moderator. William Doyle IV received eight votes for a five-year term on the Montague Housing Authority.

With no one on the ballot for three-year terms as soldiers memorial trustees, with one position being for a veteran and another for a non-veteran, Christopher Williams received three write-in votes for the veteran position and Scott Hyman received three write-in votes for the non-veteran position.

With only Patricia Perham as a ballot candidate for one of three available three-year library trustee positions, Gretchen Wetherby and Pamela Allan racked up write-in votes. Perham received 602 votes, with Wetherby and Allan receiving 68 and 46 write-in votes, respectively. However, Allan also received 24 write-in votes to fill a two-year position as library trustee.

■Assessor, three-year term — Ann Cenzano, 639 votes.

■Board of Health, three-year term — Melanie Ames Zamojski, 623 votes.

■Parks and Recreation Commission, three-year term — Barbara Kuklewicz, 623 votes.

■School Committee representing Gill, three-year term — James Delorenzo, 544 votes.

■School Committee representing Montague, two-year term — Clifford Spatcher, 576 votes.
