SHELBURNE FALLS — Instead of taking the Who pudding and rare Who roast beast, the Grinch and a reindeer handed out 85 prime rib meals and side dishes to local seniors this week.
Amanda Joao, director of the Senior Center in Shelburne Falls, donning a pair of reindeer antlers, and Activities Coordinator Dot Lyman, in a Grinch outfit, distributed the meals in a drive-thru format on Tuesday, replacing the center’s usual sit-down holiday dinner to follow current health safety precautions.
Along with the prime rib meal, prepared by Hugh Knox, Senior Center volunteers had baked cookies and gave out calendars and pens. Greenfield Savings Bank, the Senior Center Foundation and Maple Row Farm were sponsors.
More to-go meals are planned for January and February. Information will be included in the center’s January newsletter and on its website at the-senior-center.org. Alternatively, call the Senior Center, located in the Masonic building at 7 Main St., at 413-625-2502.
